Rural Health Equity
Initiative in Far Western Nepal
Nyaya Health operates a maternal and child health clinic in the town of Saphe Bagar, Achham in the remote region of Far Western Nepal. Achham is one of the poorest and least developed districts in the country, and shoulders some of Nepal's highest HIV and maternal mortality rates. Following a decade-long civil conflict, the health infrastructure of Accham has been ravaged. It is home to 250,000 people who are served by only one doctor. Through the innovative application of epidemiological methodologies, information and communication technologies, and accountable community-based management structures, we seek to develop scalable models for expanding health equity and access to marginalized populations.

September 5th, 2007 - Nyaya Health clinic in
Saphe Bagar chosen from among 115 proposals in the AMD
Open
Architecture Challenge as site for construction of a telemedicine
center to facilitate collaboration between international health experts
and local providers and community.
August 1st, 2007 - Nyaya Health completes two community-based health surveys
to solidify the planning process.
April 30th, 2007 - Renovations begin on clinic in Sanfe Bagar,
