Most Achhami households do not have running water. Women and children are primarily responsible for trips back and forth between a community tap and their house, carrying large jugs of water. Our hospital is connected to a water system, though struggles arise during the current months of rice planting, as pipes are often cut and diverted to farmers' fields.

Lindsey Youngquist is a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar studying Community Health in Nepal. She recently volunteered at Bayalpata Hospital in Achham.
