Picture of the Week from Bayalpata Hospital

After Lindsey served as a community health volunteer at Bayalpata Hospital she painted these watercolors from her photos of Achhami people. The paintings were auctioned at the Nepal + Ball in Boulder to raise money for the continued work of Nyaya Health:
Connection
This Achhami woman was a patient at Bayalpata Hospital. She had walked several hours to reach the hospital, up and down the steep hillsides of Achham. Her days are generally spent in the fields, cooking, caring for children and livestock, and collecting firewood in a large bamboo doko basket suspended from her forehead. With so many duties, it can be hard to miss a day of work to visit the hospital. But with the growing trust in Bayalpata, more people are choosing to see a doctor.
Lindsey Youngquist is a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar studying Community Health in Nepal. She recently volunteered at Bayalpata Hospital in Achham.
