OVERVIEW
Nyaya Health is a non-governmental organization working with communities in Nepal and with the Nepali Ministry of Health to develop healthcare services in a poor, rural region in the district of Achham. Nyaya is currently seeking applications for the position of Auxiliary Nurse Midwife (ANM) at Bayalpata Hospital, which is a full-service, free-care hospital that Nyaya runs in the Achham district of Nepal. Bayalpata Hospital serves an area over 250,000 people, treats over 2,000 patients per month, and provides 24-hour inpatient and labor & delivery services.

JOB DESCRIPTION
The specific responsibilities of the ANM include, but are not limited to:
1. To appropriately triage patients based on severity of illness;
2. To assist in management of emergency cases or complicated deliveries;
3. To proficiently provide all primary services related to maternal health;
4. To conduct uncomplicated deliveries;
5. To assist in documentation of medical services provided;
6. To participate in public health and clinical programs in the communities surrounding Bayalpata Hospital in collaboration with the District Health Office
7. To perform additional duties as requested by the Medical Director.
APPLICANT INFORMATION
Qualifications
A competitive applicant will have completed their ANM training, with or without additional training thereafter. S/he must be comfortable with uncomplicated deliveries. S/he would also have some pediatric experience. The applicant should have an interest in social justice, healthcare for the poor, and rural healthcare. Nepali language skills are required.
Financial considerations and remuneration
Compensation will be at the level of a Grade 2 employee, and hired applicants will be remunerated according to the Hospital Financial policies.
Timeline
Applications will be accepted from July 1st, 2010 and will be considered on a rolling basis until the position has been filled. The applicant should expect to start working no later than August, 2010, although earlier start dates are acceptable and preferred. Commitments of a minimum of one year are expected, but more are preferred.
