Technical Opportunities with Nyaya Health Outside Nepal

Most Nyaya Health volunteers will focus their efforts from their home countries, providing technical assistance, procuring supplies, and doing fundraising. We operate on a model whereby the funds and technical support continue to grow for the Nepal-based team without overly depending upon support from single large donors. We seek to create a social network of people who are helping to build clinical services in Achham, to lobby the government to improve services, and to provide critical financing when the government’s funds fall short.

Current Openings

Collaboration Technology Manager

Nyaya Health maintains an “open source” approach involving complete transparency in our expenditures, operations protocols, and clinical outcomes, as we have discussed in this PLoS Medicine article.  The role of this position is to ensure that we continue to innovatively utilize collaborative technologies for the purposes of transparency, efficiency, and collaboration.  We are looking for a volunteer to commit to a two-year position.  This position requires no programming abilities, but does require an interest and competency with information technology.  Specific duties include:

1. manage the organizational live sync file cabinet, keep it organized and clean, and invite new board members to foldershare

2. manage our organizational wiki; update the WikiTips page as needed; respond to users’ requests for invites and assistance

3. manage google apps listserves and users, which we use for document-sharing and email

4. manage google analytics and adwords, which we use for analysis of our web presence

5. manage the technical aspects of the picasa photo gallery

6. explore avenues to improve the efficiency and reliability of our collaboration technology strategy

7. assist the Director of Technology in managing the website and technical aspects of the blog
